Miguel Castro joined All Saints Catholic School in November 2025 as a volunteer, bringing extensive expertise in cybersecurity, systems engineering, and network administration. As the school’s Systems and Network Administrator and Information Security Manager, Mr. Castro leads the strategic development, security oversight, and modernization of the institution’s technology infrastructure. His role integrates operational IT management with formal information security governance, ensuring that the school’s systems remain secure, resilient, and aligned with regulatory standards.

Mr. Castro earned his Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University (WGU). He also holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Arizona State University, with emphases in Business Communication and Justice Studies. This interdisciplinary academic foundation enables Mr. Castro to effectively bridge technical implementation with organizational communication, risk management, and compliance oversight.

He maintains several respected industry certifications that demonstrate advanced technical expertise and leadership in cybersecurity, including:

  • ISC² Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA Network Infrastructure Professional (CNIP)
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP)

Throughout his career, Mr. Castro has served in roles including Information System Security Officer, Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, Network Administrator, and Systems Engineering Advisor. His professional background includes designing secure network architectures, implementing layered cybersecurity defense strategies, applying systems engineering methodologies, and integrating compliance-based security controls into operational environments.

Mr. Castro is also a retired Captain in the United States Army Reserve Signal Corps. During his military service, he led secure communications operations and managed mission-critical information systems. His experience strengthened his expertise in secure network design, operational risk management, infrastructure resilience, and leadership under complex and high-stakes conditions.

At All Saints Catholic School, Mr. Castro applies structured systems engineering and cybersecurity design principles to strengthen endpoint security, automate patch management, enhance network segmentation, and improve overall infrastructure reliability. He is highly experienced in endpoint protection platforms, security automation, vulnerability management, regulatory compliance implementation, and technical documentation. His work ensures alignment with established frameworks and standards, including NIST guidelines, FERPA requirements, HIPAA considerations, and broader PII data protection mandates.

Demonstrating exceptional dedication to the school’s mission, Mr. Castro frequently volunteers his time beyond standard working hours to deploy cybersecurity configurations, update network devices, apply security patches, and harden critical system components. He also serves as a strategic advisor to school leadership on infrastructure modernization initiatives, ensuring that technology investments support instructional excellence while meet or exceed regulatory expectations.

Mr. Castro has been recognized for professional excellence through multiple Employee of the Month awards at a major engineering contracting firm, along with several spot awards for leadership in IT initiatives, systems optimization, and cybersecurity enhancements.
